How to Screen Record and Screenshot on a Chromebook

How to Screen Record on a Chromebook:

  1. Press CTRL + SHIFT + Overview (The button right above the 6 key).
  2. A menu will appear at the bottom of the screen. Select the record button.
  3. Select the "Record Full Screen" option.
  4. Press anywhere on the screen to start recording. A countdown timer will appear. Once it reaches zero, it will start capturing video of whatever’s on-screen. A red recording icon will display in the taskbar while the recording is in progress.
  5. Click the Stop button to end the recording.

Additional information to note: 

  1. You can select to record the whole screen, a selected part of the screen, or one tab. 
  2. You can select the settings button after pressing Ctrl + Shift + Overview to audio recording on or off.
  3. The recording will automatically save locally to your Chromebook. 

How to Screenshot on a Chromebook:

  1. Press CTRL + SHIFT + Overview (The button right above the 6 key).
  2. A menu will appear and it will already be prepared to take a screen shot.
  3. Drag and select the area that you want to screenshot.
  4. After selecting your area, click the "Capture" button that appears in the middle of your screenshot.
  5. The screenshot will then be saved locally to your Chromebook.

Additional information to note:

  1. After pressing Ctrl + Shift + Overview, you have the option to take a screen shot of an entire tab or the entire screen.
